Why this podcast?

Smart true crime.

I’ve (Sherri) been drawn to true crime my whole life—it’s a family obsession. My mom and sister love it, too. For us, it’s not just about solving the mystery; it’s about understanding the psychology. What turns a person from an innocent child into a killer? Is it how they’re raised, their circumstances, or something deeper? For years, I wanted to create a true crime podcast, but it couldn’t be just another retelling of dark stories. It had to go deeper—it had to mean something.

That purpose came into focus when I discovered Kay Weden’s story. A sweet, trusting woman, Kay endured the unimaginable—losing her mother and boyfriend to someone she couldn’t believe was capable of such evil. She couldn’t see the signs because, as she so movingly said, “you don’t do those things to people you love.”

Her experience was a wake-up call. It showed me how often we overlook red flags—not out of ignorance, but because we trust the people we care for. I realized stories like Kay’s could help others see the dangers they might be missing. That’s why this podcast exists—to break down real-life tragedies and uncover lessons that can protect listeners.

Danger doesn’t always look like danger. Sometimes it smiles, sometimes it loves, and often, it hides in plain sight. This podcast is here to share stories that teach, empower, and help keep you safe. Because true crime is more than my passion—it’s my mission. Together, we’ll uncover the truth and learn to see what lies beneath the surface.
